Are you ready to work with a Designer?

Have you ever wanted to hire an interior designer? This decision is very important, it is also not for everyone and that's okay. Now that I have 20 years in the industry there are TWO big things that I would look for if I was going to hire a designer.  What is their process and what is their availability? I know sometimes we first look at one's style, but if they have a good process, they won't be overwhelmed with projects and the rest comes naturally.  Trust me I speak from experience here.

1.) Do You Know What You Want & Can You Articulate That?

How well do you know what you want? This doesn't have to mean that you know the difference between Louis the XVI or Modern Farmhouse. You only need to be able to express 3 things. Your big picture goals for your home, how you live and if you are quick or slow at making decisions. This is crucial for a successful project.

2.) Are You Prepared to Invest Wisely & Practice Patience?

Any project that you undergo for your home is an investment, with time and money. Your designer should speak very strongly of their process. Are you willing to be patient and trust the process? There is value in a good process. The process I use makes for saving my clients time and money and when I have clients who let me lead with my process the value is exponentially better.

3.) Do You Love to Delegate & Trust Others with the Details?

Are you great at delegating? If you want to hold that role on your house projects you might be happier without the help of a full service designer.  Now, if you feel overwhelmed at the thought of a house project, you don't have a system or checklists or know where to start in the planning or all the things to consider then the next step for you would be to have a consultation.  This structured meeting will gain you new insights to all aspects of the project journey.  Did you know that just selecting a drapery or a blind for a window could lead to over 100 decisions?

Interior Designers are for anyone who wants to hand over the reins.  If you are still unsure we could schedule a discovery of service call to help you answer those questions.

If you're ready to create a home that ticks all the boxes on your goals, reach out to us. We can't wait to hear about your project.

Until next time,
