Pinery Project Reveal

PROJECT SCOPE

This client wanted a farmhouse style, so we upped the game to meet their current retired lifestyle of classic & elegant simplicity.

They have grown children & grandkids that visit often. Our material selections are durable yet had enough details to remove worry from spills and bring charm & lots of snuggles.

PROJECT COMMENCEMENT

The client grew up in a real country farmhouse and had fond memories there.

They were finally able to build a home of their dreams. They found a plan they loved and a builder they found to be quite agreeable and so It began. I was brought in to help initially with selecting colors for the exterior of this home.

OTHER THOUGHTS

Things you won’t find in my projects: telescoping rods or ready made drapery, cheap brackets.

What you will find. Special details that may only have meaning to the client, it could be in art on the wall or a book on the table. And at least one fabric that the client can’t live without and not only do they know it but it's the element that pulls it all together.

I make sure to use something that is precious or sacred to each client and highlight it in a way that is natural and not staged or forced. In this case it was the art in the library and the commissioned art by an expert aspen tree artist in the stairwell.

Fabric selection is crucial in any design, I make sure that all the items that touch our skin bring a nurturing touch.

For this client they each had their favorite place to sit and watch movies and snuggle with their grandkids.

I make sure I get my clients out of their comfort zone. I balance the light and color in a space with the perfect shades, not just the easy ones that might match.

MY SIGNATURE

Something old, something new, something borrowed (even if it’s from another room or my home) and of course something blue.

PROJECT COMPLETION

I adored this couple.

They were a joy to work with and I am excited to share with you how this beautiful home became one of my most favorite projects and one I will cherish for years. I was honored that they wanted to work with me even at the time I was very pregnant with my 3rd kiddo.

Yian Q

Since 2015, I have helped over 100 interior designers, builders, builders, and architects – from those just starting out to award-winning designers published in Architectural Digest, Luxe, and more.

My process starts with what is already true within you, then brings it to life in a way that resonates with your ideal clients.

I work with designers because they’re awesome. I’m a member of IDS (Interior Design Society) and served on the board of the Virtual Chapter. Design events I’ve attended include High Point, Vegas Market, and BOLD Summit (Business of Luxury Design).

When I’m not creating brands and websites, you can find me listening to audiobooks and going on long speed walks with friends.

I’m from Seattle and now live in New York City with my wife, Gaby.
